SHAID has always tried to involve young people in its decision making process and day to day running as much as possible. We have developed a number of projects aimed at and run by young people. The projects range from peer education and research on housing and homelessness from a young person’s point of view, to more practical activities such as fi lm-making and painting and decorating. Provision has also been made for a young person’s representative on SHAID’s Management Committee. The young people’s projects provide an opportunity for service users to use their often negative experiences in a positive way by, helping others in similar circumstances and raise awareness about youth homelessness.
